Robert Ardner is a retired Chief of Police, having retired in 1998 after a 27-year Law Enforcement career. Ardner began his career in 1971 with West Norriton Township in Montgomery County. While with West Norriton he worked as a patrolman, detective and detective sergeant. In 1987 Ardner left West Norriton to become the Chief of Police in Aldan Borough, Delaware County. During his tenure in Aldan he served on the District Attorney’s Arson Task Force and was an Adjunct Instructor at the Delaware County Community College. In 1991 he left Aldan to become the Chief of Police in Elizabethtown Borough, Lancaster County. While at Elizabethtown he served as President of the Lancaster County Chief’s of Police Association and was a member of the task force who designed the Emergency Services Training Center.

After retirement the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole hired Ardner as a Criminal Justice System Planner in their Research and Statistics Division. In 2005 Ardner joined the staff at the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency as a Supervisor in the Office of Criminal Justice System Improvements.

In 2007 Ardner was named Manager of the County Planning Unit in the Office of Criminal Justice System Improvements at PCCD. In this capacity he supervises a staff of four Regional Criminal Justice Advisory Specialists. These specialists work with County CJAB’s to address identified Criminal Justice System needs

Ardner holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University.) and is a 1993 graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Ardner served in Viet Nam from 1968-69. He was a Combat Medic with the 25 th Infantry Division’s 4 th Battalion, 9 th Infantry. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Medics Badge.
