Captain Rodney A. Manning has been the Director of the Training Division and previously the Commander of the Community and Special Services Section with the Bureau of Training and Education at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, Hershey, PA, for the past 11 years. He has been a member of the Pennsylvania State Police since 1984. During that time, he has been assigned various positions and locations within the state. His duty locations included Montoursville, Mansfield, Philadelphia, Towanda and Harrisburg.

His assignments have included Patrol, Homicide Investigation, Drug, as well as normal enforcement duties. He has worked with the FBI in helping to develop the “Lessons Learned” from evaluating the school shootings which occurred during the late 80’s and 90’s which included Columbine.

He was one of four children in a military family and consequently traveled the United States, Asia, and Europe. He graduated from Mansfield State College in Mansfield, Pennsylvania in 1983 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a minor in communications. He has received additional training from both the FBI and the Secret Service.
