Amy Mattia has been with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the past 14 years. The last seven years have been spent as a detective in the Intelligence Unit. While the duties of the Intelligence Unit include dignitary protection, monitoring extremist groups, outlaw motorcycle gangs and terrorist threats, the majority of their time is devoted to Criminal Street Gangs. She has primarily focused on street gangs for the past four years. The Pittsburgh Police Intelligence Unit frequently conducts training and information sharing sessions on the progression of the street gang/violence issue in the Pittsburgh area and also provides investigative support for federal agencies who target the criminal street gangs and associated violence.
