Sergeant Readler enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police in January 1991. After basic training, he was assigned to Troop S, and was stationed at Swiftwater and then Harrisburg. In 1994, he was assigned to Troop L, and was stationed at Schuylkill Haven and then Jonestown. In 1998, he was accepted as an instructor at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, where he remained until 2007. While at the Academy, he was an instructor in the firearms unit, traffic law unit and in-service unit. He served as the supervisor of the in-service unit from 2006 – 2007. In 2007, he was selected as the supervisor of the Pennsylvania State Police, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment Team. In this capacity, he supervises the daily activities of the team, which conducts risk assessments of schools, colleges/universities, airports, nuclear power plants, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure. Prior to enlistment in the State Police, he worked as a Site Protection Officer at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
