Pamela L. Weeks was born in Quakake, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Tamaqua High School and Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged from active duty with the rank of Lieutenant in 1990. She served as the Schuylkill County Operations and Training Officer and as a member of the county Local Emergency Planning Committee. She joined the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) in February 1995 where she is currently the State Citizen Corps Program Manager. Since assuming that position in 2005, the program has grown from eight counties/locals to its current number of 50 with her assistance. She was instrumental in the development of a state-wide Public Education and Outreach Strategic Plan for the Commonwealth. This plan includes outreach and education to local governments, populations with special needs, and businesses on the importance of being prepared for whatever type of disaster may affect your family, community and business. She is also the Program Manager for the Safe Schools planning and training programs at PEMA. She co-chairs the Safe Schools Planning Sub Committee which is working on a Planning and Training toolkit for the public, non-public and private schools in the Commonwealth. She also sits on the Commonwealth’s Special Populations Steering Committee which is responsible for addressing emergency preparedness issues impacting Commonwealth residents with special needs.
